There has been a significant increase in the types and technology of tankless manufactures as such many homeowners have become overwhelmed by the numerous factors. We aim to provide sound guidance and unbiased help to clients based on our years of experience with tankless water heaters.

Unfortunately, many reviews found online are promotional, this leads many consumers to make an unsuitable and possibly an unnecessary purchase. It’s important to understand that homeowners looking to upgrade to a tankless may need to make changes to their existing gas lines or electrical supply.

In order to select the best water heater, and avoid unnecessary expenses and unjustified purchases, homeowners need both education and guidance. The complexity of some of the latest tankless technologies (like the remote control some come with) forces some people to find a reliable guide whom they trust. Here at the tankless hot water guide we aim to provide this help, and the trust customers are looking for. There are a lot of benefits gained with a properly sized and installed tankless water heater and homeowners can sometimes see their water heating bill cut in half.

If you are interested but don’t know who to trust send us a quick message (here) write down any questions or concerns you have and we will reply with an answer as detailed as possible. If you would rather us contact you via email only simply mention that in the message and we will respect your wish.

Take care and happy tankless shopping.

Canada ecoENERGY — Homeowners can get up to $1,250 in grants from the Canadian government for a new hot water system. The Government of Canada grants up to $5,000 for home energy renovations through the ecoENERGY Retrofit – Homes program, which is in effect until March 31, 2012. Click here for more

Remember not to long ago I talked about how a tankless could be combined with a solar thermal water heater? Well BAM! here are some rebates the Government is offereing that reduce the cost for both the tankless and the solar heater. I wouldn’t expect these to last too long (in fact, around April 2012 is when I would expect to offer to be removed).

This has a few benefits for homeowners looking to switch over to a tankless system, firstly its warmer in the winter than it would be if drawn from Lake Simcoe and thus uses less energy to heat up. Secondly the water is purer and has less dissolved mineral content reducing the buildup of scale in a tankless heat exchanger. Thus if your a Barrie resident a tankless is a good system to invest in.

We can service and install tankless systems in a number of areas in and around the Barrie area (Essa, Bradford, Nottawasaga, Innisfil, Alliston, Stayner, Keswick, Wassaga, etc). It never hurts to ask, so if you’re at all interested Get More Information Now

Tankless system provide instant hot water and can provide an endless supply, they can reduce water heating bills by up to 50 percent, and have a significantly loger lifespan than a conventioanl tank type water heater.

Don’t forget Barrie and the Province of Ontario are still offering grants and rebates to home owners who make the switch over to a tankless system. So if you live in Barrie or area you can get a Government rebate with an energy audit to help offset the additional cost.

Barrie tankless sales and services.

The Noritz NRC111 is a condensing tankless water heater. This is the only condensing tankless that Noritz makes and it produces 11.1 gallons of hot water per minute.

The Noritz NRC111 utilizes a dual heat exchanger, which is made from a fusion of stainless steel and copper exchangers. The 100% stainless steel component captures the residual heat from the exhaust temperature to preheat the incoming water before it runs through the main copper heat exchanger. This results in dramatic reduction of carbon dioxide and increases the tankless heater’s efficiency level to over 93%! Another benefit of this technology is lower exhaust temperatures, which means less costly PVC can be used for its venting. A PVC adapter is built into the Noritz heater for easy installation.

Rinnai has had the honours of receiving accolades from three media outlets recently. The first being Builders Magazine 2010 brand leader in quality. The second is Greenbuilder’s Magazine Hot 50 products of 2010. The last is a nod from Bestcover.com best Whole-House tankless water heater.

Rinnai had this to say,

“We’re thrilled that each of these publications independently found Rinnai worthy of such distinct honors,” said Rinnai America General Manager Phil Weeks. “Builder, GreenBuilder and Bestcovery.com each target a specific segment of our customer base, and these awards communicate to all three audiences that Rinnai is a leader in the tankless industry. Tankless is the future of water heating in North America, so as builders and consumers embrace this new technology, having the endorsement of these influential publications will help instill confidence in our products and the Rinnai brand.”

Rinnai is a subsidiary of Rinnai Corporation in Nagoya, Japan, and was established in 1974. The American headquarters is in Peachtree City, Ga. Rinnai Corporation manufactures gas appliances including tankless water heaters, a wide range of kitchen appliances and heating and air conditioning units. As the technology leader in its industry, Rinnai is the largest gas appliance manufacturer in Japan and is the number one selling brand of tankless gas water heaters in North America.
Giant microwaves to heat water instantly? Is this real? And can it actually work?

A microwave (like in a microwave oven) is generated by a magnetron at a frequency of 2.45 gigahertz, this is the exact frequency that targets water molecules and gets them vibrating faster and faster, thus heating up.

The principal behind a microwave tankless water heater is basically the same as your microwave oven at home just on a larger scale. Cold water will simply pass through the unit where it will be bombarded by microwaves actively exciting the molecules to the required temperature. The warm or hot water will then pass through the pluming system to the source of demand.

Effectively this is making hot water produced by electricity actually a reality. There are electric tankless water heaters, sure, but they require massive amounts of power and don’t reliably produce enough water to supply a modern home. Wanderport, a manufacturer of these systems is claiming upwards of 6-7 gallons per minute which is directly on par with conventional tankless systems.

What’s potentially so great about these systems?

First off there is no venting needed, no holes in the walls, no venting proximity restrictions; these are huge barriers that gas or propane tankless systems face. On that same note, the conventional tankless systems sometimes require home owners to upgrade supply lines as units can consume upwards of 199,000 Btu’s.

Secondly a microwave unit has an efficiency of 99% and emits no pollution. The unit also doesn’t degrade over time as a conventional tankless does with calcium deposits and buildups in the various heat exchangers that they need.

So what’s the chances of you getting a microwave water heater in your home in the near future?

According to Wanderport, quite realistic. In fact they have a product on the verge of being released. Its already won an advanced technology award from the <a title="Toronto Construction Association Website"
Toronto Construction Association.

Check out the future of water heating here.

Rinnai’s condensing water heating technology offers all of the lifestyle benefits of traditional tankless water heaters which includes continuous hot water and the ability to run multiple hot water appliances at the same time coupled with even greater energy savings. Rinnai’s unique condensing design incorporates two innovative heat exchangers to achieve optimum water heating value from every cubic foot of natural gas or propane, and the units are ENERGY STAR qualified. The condensing process delivers up to 95 percent thermal efficiency, which translates to significant energy savings when compared to traditional gas tank water heaters. Available in four models, the condensing tankless water heaters are designed to meet the needs of mid to large sized homes and can be banked for even greater capacity. Like all Rinnai tankless water heaters, the condensing tankless water heaters contain commercial grade heat exchangers, making them an ideal choice for both residential and commercial applications.

In addition to the units’ lifestyle and energy saving benefits, the Rinnai condensing tankless water heaters utilize a unique concentric venting system that is specifically designed for gas appliance venting. This results in an overall safer and easier to install product. The concentric venting design is a safer option for consumers due to the use of a polypropylene inner pipe, which is designed to withstand varying flue temperature conditions that may be experienced over the life of a product. Also, since Rinnai’s concentric venting system uses just one pipe that is fit and locked into place without glues or solvents with expandable gasket seals at pipe joints, the risk of gaps is virtually eliminated, further contributing to the safety of the system; plus, installers appreciate the simplified, quicker installation afforded by the single pipe.

Find out more on the Rinnai condensing takless you can give our office a call or fill out the quick form and we will have some one call you back.

One of our readers is working on installing a domestic solar hot water heater in conjunction with a tankless. They were going to go with a Rheem tankless to offset any additinonal temperature increase that was needed over the solar gains. Unfortunately they found out that the particular unit that they were planning on using senses the incoming water temperature, buy ‘ignores’ water that is within 40F of the target temp (ie. the unit won’t cut on to work). This has caused them some problems because:

1) The max output on any residential line is 120F (49C) (this is canadian law it cant be any hotter than this in a residential home).
2) If the solar heated water comes in at 100F (37C) or warmer, the unit will not kick on. This means the output is 37C, a cold shower to be sure.
3) If you go to the commerical unit, the max temp is 180F. This much too hot for residential use (think of someone turning on the hot water at the sink to do dishes), but it would work from the 40F differential standpoint (ie. if the water is 60C or colder, then the unit will fire, anything warmer than 60C doesn’t matter as it would be warm enough for a shower). Again this is illegal in Canada as the Max allowed Temperature is 120F.

The best solution is to more to a Rinnai Tankless water heater as this unit only requires there to be a 20 degree farenheight differentiation between water to be heated and heated water. Therfor your shower will at the very least be 100 degrees farenheight which is plenty warm enough.

These co-heating water heating systems are quite complicated so its important that you talk to a prefessional regarding any plans that you have for your home or cottage. Feel free to send us an email if you have any questions.
