This a great program that the Government has in place to help home owners offset the cost associated with upgrading old heating, cooling, insulation and various other systems within a home.  Upgrading old conventional tank type water heaters was one of the major targeted areas that saw huge grants to promote the removal of these systems.  A tankless system is designed to have a lifespan of over 20 years, where as a tank will be lucky to last 12-15 years.  The efficiency comparison between a storage tank system and a tankless is roughly around the 40% mark.  Yes a tankless will be more expensive but it will save you money, and even though that money is hard to see a tankless systems is a proven money saver. 

You Have Never Had An Eco Energy Audit

If your living in Ontario and just hearing about this program now your OK you can still participate you just need to act fast visit home eco energy audit to book an audit as soon as possible the auditor will explain everything you need to know.

1. Get your first audit
2. Upgrade your home (furnace, tankless, windows insulation, as much or a little as you choose)
3. Have a second audit preformed to confirm upgrades
4. Wait for rebate money from the Government (usually takes a while, as we all know how fast they work)

If you know about the program and have had your first audit completed and maybe a few upgrades on your come installed, you have until the end of the month to get the final audit and receive your grant money.

Ontario is an extensive province with over 1 million square kilometers, in the continental US Texas is the largest state coming in at 6 hundred thousand square kilometer range. Our 4th largest province is nearly twice the size of the largest continental US state.

Thus we have a difficult time providing tankless water heaters to all of Ontario never-mind the rest of Canada, but we try our best. Below is a map of our primary service area where we are able to complete home energy audits and provide service and installation. We are selling individual units with no installation and these can be shipped nearly anywhere but for the most part you may find a cheaper unit near your home. If you’re inquisitive though send us a quick email and we can provide a price and shipping quote.

Energy Audits

• Tan area – basically all of Ontario could be a week or more depends on where the next available auditor is.
• Green area – roughly 2 to 5 business days
• Pink area – usually within 1-3 days

Tankless Unit only

• We routinely have units shipped within the same day of purchase (it does depend on the unit requested and if its one we have in stock)

Tankless Unit with Quote and Installation

• Green Area -  We can usually have a guy out to do a preliminary inspection and solidify a quote within 2-4 days and installation in another few days
• Red Area – Quote and installation is routinely completed in under a week

• We service  most of southern Ontario and can do emergency calls, depending on where our service techs are we can sometimes be at a customers house in under 30 minutes.

Did you know that in your home you are probably paying $60.00 or more per month to simply maintain the heat in a conventional tank type heater? How is this possible? Its simple, your regular tank loses its heat up the flue, or out the chimney, then when the water cools it reheats, and send more money and heat out the chimney. This is occurring even while you’re sleeping or at work.

You likely use most of your hot water in the evenings and morning, do you ever run out? Tankless water heaters are able to overcome these problems. A tankless never runs out of water and can have efficiencies in the high 90’s, you will never run out of hot water in your shower with a tankless.

All of the Earths resources are finite and thus as supplies become scarcer prices will continue to increase, minimizing your consumption reduces your bills. A tankless uses energy only when you ask it to provide hot water, a conventional take keeps water hot even when you’re not there, costing you money. Tankless water heaters will save you more money over their lifespan (20 plus years) than it will cost for the new unit. Plus a Tankless water heater takes up limited amounts of space, is easy to clean, and is easily operated.

Tankless Brand and Venting. With all the different brands available to consumers there is a plethora of venting options to vent the various units. Some tankless water heaters can be vented horizontally and others can vent vertically. The majority of tankless water heaters also have computerized safety devices to protect consumers. Most conventional tanks don’t have these advanced safety features.

Applications and Uses. Some applications of tankless water heaters are: boats, mobile homes, RV’s, and radiant heating systems.

Return on investment. The payback period for tankless water heater is between 3 to 7 years, this is dependent on both energy cost and personal use. If you are a high hot water consumer it will speed up the payback process, if you normally use very little hot water then the payback takes a little longer. Remember though, tankless hot water heaters experience zero standby heat loss and this are much more efficient than conventional tanks.

Energy Audits. Currently the Ontario Government has an incentive program that promotes home energy efficiency. It starts with a home energy audit that assesses the current efficiency of your home, after it is completed a report outlining the current state is sent to the home owner. There is an 18 month period for any renovations to take place; once they are completed a follow up audit is preformed to confirm that all retrofits have been accomplished. At this point grants and incentives are sent from the government to the retrofitted home owner to offset some of the costs.Just installing a tankless water heater qualifies you for $500. Tankless Lifespan. The expected life of a tankless water heater is roughly 20 years. We have customers who still have their tankless water heaters and it has been in service for more than 20 years. A major reason for this is that tankless water heaters are serviceable, unlike conventional (disposable) tank type water heaters.

You live in Ontario and own a single family home. A single family home is defined as a detached or semi-detached home or low-rise multi-unit residential building. Low-rise residential buildings must be three stories or less with a building footprint of less than 600 square meters.

If this is you then you should follow these 4 steps.

Step 1:

Homeowner hires an auditor licensed by Natural Resources Canada for a first or pre-retrofit audit. The first or pre-retrofit audit typically costs about $300. Natural Resources Canada licenses home energy auditors and updates the list as auditors are licensed. There are currently several companies operating in Ontario.

Step 2:

The auditor carries out the pre-retrofit audit and provides the homeowner with a report that contains recommendations on energy efficiency improvements.

Step 3:

Once the pre-audit is complete the auditor notifies the federal ecoEnergy program and the federal government notifies the provincial Home Energy Audit Program.

Step 4:

The provincial Home Energy Audit Program will issue a $150 rebate cheque to the homeowner for the pre-audit.

A homeowner is not required to carry out a retrofit to receive the rebate.
