The ecoEnergy program that gives homeowners access to thousands in grant money to upgrade and improve the efficiency of their homes is coming to an end.

This program is quite convoluted due to both the Provincial and Federal Governments flip flopping on both funding and support for the ecoEnergy retrofit. I guess when something is as successful as the ecoEnergy program it makes sense that our Government would work to dismantle it.

Moving from a old tank type hot water system to a tankless will net you 315-375 dollars in rebate money depending on the efficiency of your new tankless. You can also add grants up, so if you change out your old furnace or insulate you walls to R-50, then add 750-1250 dollars to that 375 dollars you received for the tankless. It’s definitely a great opportunity for Canadians to take advantage of.

Having an energy audit on your home shows you the home owner intimate details regarding the walls, roof, equipment, insulation, and efficiency of the place you live and call home. It can provide very useful ways to not only save money but get you access to grants that help offset the cost of the upgrades. The ecoEnergy audit retrofit will once again be cancelled on March 31st 2012.

You can find out more on where do get an audit from http://homeecoenergyaudit.ca

If you are interested in the grants and the values that are available you can check them out here on this GRANT CHART

Hot water heater grants for your home

Take advantage of Government of Canada grants for replacement hot water heater systems:

Canada ecoENERGY — Homeowners can get up to $1,250 in grants from the Canadian government for a new hot water system. The Government of Canada grants up to $5,000 for home energy renovations through the ecoENERGY Retrofit – Homes program, which is in effect until March 31, 2012. Click here for more

Remember not to long ago I talked about how a tankless could be combined with a solar thermal water heater? Well BAM! here are some rebates the Government is offereing that reduce the cost for both the tankless and the solar heater. I wouldn’t expect these to last too long (in fact, around April 2012 is when I would expect to offer to be removed).

In a surprise announcement on Thursday April 1 2010, the Federal government suspended the Ecoenergy retrofit program. This program aided homeowners in upgrading their existing HVAC equipment to more energy efficient models, thus reducing greenhouse gases that homes emitted substantially. The program was axed due to its popularity, more than 3 times more Canadians participated than the Government had anticipated. Typical government fashion, lets end anything that is actually working and making a change. This puts more than 2000 energy auditors and countless other support staff out of jobs, and that’s only in Ontario.

Can I Still Get An Audit?

Unfortunately, you can not get an audit anymore. There are no more grants available for tankless water heaters from Federal or Provincial governments.

The Ontario provincial government was matching all grants, this has also ended.

This isnt the end, there will be incentives from companies and manufactures to try and maintain the low entry cost for a tankless water heater.

Check back here as we will be following the situation and posting any updates.

I Have Had My D-Audit, Will I Not Get My Grants?

If you have had your D-Audit but nit your final E-Audit then you are lucky. The Government will still honour all rebates and upgrades that you do. You have until April 1 2011 to perform any upgrades and have your final E-Audit. I would recommend that you look into upgrading as much as you can over the next year, you can get $1500 back on a new furnace and $750 on a tankless water heater, and even more on roof and wall insulation. Your in a good situation, I would definitely take advantage of it.

Is a Tankless Water Heater Even Worth It Now?

Even though you are not able to get the grants for a tankless water heater the cost to benefit is still greater than having and maintaining you conventional tank water heater.

Natural Gas and Electricity prices are only on the rise, any system that can cut their use by over 40% will net you savings.

If you need a loan to purchase a tankless rates are still exceptionally low

Our rental rates haven’t changed, you can still rent a tankless for $39.95 a month

Give us a call or send us a quick email and we will call you, quotes and information are always free.

Looking to install a tankless water heater in the Markham region? We are able to provide you with a free quote and advice on any questions or concerns that you may have regarding these new systems. Installing a tankless water heater in Markham Ontario works we as we constantly have service technicians in the area should any emergency situation occur. We are also in the area enough that for the most part the detached homes provide the greatest chance for a tankless heater install. Toronto homes typically are harder to install tankless systems because homes frequently only have two sides to vent any appliance from, thus reducing install success.

Live in Markham and interested in a Tankless quote?

Fill out the form and we can send out a REP who can make sure that the tankless system can even be installed. The government home energy audit program is ending soon which eliminates the $750 government rebate for a tankless water heater. If you have any further question add them to the bottom of this form and we will respond to you with an email outlining the answers. Please be patient it could take a day or two for us to go through all the inquiries.

Just want to thank everyone for submitting your information to our HUB. We have been inundated lately with requests for tankless water heaters and thus we are trying to call you all back to setup appointments as soon as possible. It can take upwards of 24 hours to hear back from us, but occasionally it can take less than 5 minutes from when you send the form request in.

Over the last few years we have installed thousands of tankless heaters and have received hundreds of compliments on these systems. It’s easy to accept this

praise when the system offers endless hot water at a fraction of the cost of a conventional water heater.

If you’re thinking of getting into a tankless water heater for your home now is one of the best times to take the plunge. Initially the cost is higher but the benefits far outweigh the small price gap between conventional and tankless. Government grants are at an all time high but are ending soon so get your $700 plus rebate before the program ends.

Home owners in Ontario, Toronto, Burlington, Hamilton, Etobicoke and the GTA are now able to rent a tankless hot water heater instead of the conventional tank type. A tankless system heats water on demand or as required by a home owner and provides an endless supply. A conventional tank heats water all day long and wastes energy.

This is a worry free rental program that gives home owners the option to go tankless without the upfront costs. Switching out your old tank is easy as expert installers will remove the old tank and replace it with the new tankless system. The old tank will, if you own it be recycled or if it’s a rental returned to the company that you’re currently with.

This should all take less than 4 hours and you can be saving over a 1000 pounds of CO2 a year.

Fill out this quick form and we will have someone contact you within 24 hours to answer any question and find out if a tankless will work in your home.

Part of the government’s economic action plan is to boost the eco energy retrofit program that is currently running. The government has increased all available grant money for energy efficient retrofits by 25%. Additionally the program has been expanded with a 300 million dollar increase in funding over the next two years.

You can download the new PDF here

Initially the program gave home owners 18 months to complete all retrofits, perform the E audit and submit files for rebates. This has now been extended and homeowners that are past their 18 month time frame can still perform retrofits and get access to additionally grant money by performing a F-audit.

This is really significant for The Tankless Hot Water Guide as the additionally grant money will further reduce the cost of tankless water heaters for consumers. A tankless with an efficiency of .82% or better will get you 630$ in rebate money. If you decide to go with a condensing tankless water heater the grant money is even better (.94% efficiency or better) this will net you a 750$ cheque from the government.

You cant find a better time to get go out and get a tankless water heater.
